How to connect ChatGPT to your AI Passport

Connect ChatGPT to AI Passport, save a preference and test recall in a fresh chat. Learn how category consent and memory approval affect the connection.

Connecting ChatGPT to AI Passport lets it use selected personal context you have approved and allowed it to read. You can keep a useful preference in Passport and reuse it through another permitted assistant.

Use a harmless preference for the first test. Complete a save and a retrieval before adding anything sensitive.

1. Open the published AI Passport plugin

Open the AI Passport plugin listing in ChatGPT. You can also find it through the Plugins directory in your version of ChatGPT.

Check that you have the intended integration. Choose the install or connect action shown and follow the account prompts.

OpenAI’s plugin guide explains that installation and any required app connection are separate parts of setup. Installing a plugin does not establish that every tool is already authenticated.

If your employer manages ChatGPT, its administrator may need to permit the integration. Use that process rather than moving work information into a personal account to get around the restriction.

2. Sign in to the right Passport account

Complete the Passport authentication handoff. Choose the account holding the context you want ChatGPT to use.

Read any memory category choices shown during consent. Selected categories can receive continuing, revocable recall access for this particular connection. Choose the access you want, rather than assuming the consent screen has no effect beyond signing in.

You can inspect the resulting passes in Passport afterwards. Your own signed-in Passport page is also where you review memory proposals.

Connecting ChatGPT does not import its entire history into Passport or link your calendar automatically. Those are different information paths.

3. Save one preference to Passport

Start a conversation and name the destination explicitly.

Save this to AI Passport as a preference. For routine work emails, use British spelling and put the request near the start.

In the normal review flow, this creates a proposal in your private Passport Inbox. Open it and check the wording.

If the assistant turns “routine work emails” into a rule for every answer, edit it before approving. A useful preference should preserve the situation it applies to.

Approval makes the statement an approved memory. ChatGPT also needs permission to read the relevant category. Connection consent may already have established that permission.

4. Retrieve it in a new conversation

Open a fresh chat and ask ChatGPT to use Passport.

Retrieve my writing preferences from AI Passport. Tell me what it returned, then draft an email asking a colleague to confirm the meeting date below.

Add the real details the draft needs. Review any access request that appears. Check the particular category and how long the requested access would last.

An existing suitable pass can mean no new approval is needed. Inspect Passes in Passport if you want to understand why the read was allowed.

Read the retrieved preference and the draft. This confirms more than asking the assistant to repeat a statement still visible earlier in the same conversation.

5. Make sure “remember” means the destination you intended

ChatGPT has its own memory feature. A request that only says “remember this” can go there instead.

The published Passport plugin includes usage guidance, but naming AI Passport is still useful when the destination matters. Check that the proposal actually appears in Passport.

If routing remains confusing, add a short instruction in the relevant custom-instructions or project-instructions surface.

When I ask you to save something to AI Passport, use its connector and report the returned review state. When I ask for Passport context, retrieve it through the connector.

That instruction guides tool use. It cannot create a missing connection or approve access on your behalf.

If the test does not work

If the tools are missing, check the installation and account connection. Refresh the integration if needed, then start a new conversation.

If a proposal exists but recall is empty, check which Passport account you connected and whether the statement was approved. Check the category access too. An unavailable service is different from an empty result, so do not keep resaving the same information to solve a connection problem.

Once the test works, connect another supported assistant to the same Passport if you want shared context. Grant the access it actually needs and retrieve the same preference there.

Review test passes afterwards. Revoking access governs future Passport reads; it does not erase an earlier ChatGPT conversation that already received the information.
