How to set up your AI Passport

Set up AI Passport, connect an assistant and test your first approved memory. Learn how to reuse personal context while choosing which apps can access it.

AI Passport holds selected personal context that connected AI assistants can use with your permission. You can save a useful preference once and let another permitted assistant use it, rather than explaining it again in every tool.

The first setup should leave you with one memory you recognise and an assistant that can retrieve it. Start there. You can add another assistant once that works.

1. Choose something worth remembering

Pick a preference you often repeat. A writing preference is a straightforward first test.

Use British spelling when drafting my work emails. Keep routine requests concise.

You can see whether that has been saved correctly and whether a later draft follows it. There is no need to begin with a private document or your entire conversation history.

Keep one-off instructions in the current chat. The budget for this weekend’s trip does not necessarily belong in the permanent account of your life.

2. Connect your first assistant

Sign in to your Passport account through the official Egoist site. Then open AI Passport in the connector or plugin directory of the assistant you use most.

For ChatGPT, use the published AI Passport plugin. For Claude, use the AI Passport connector listing.

Choose Connect and complete the Passport sign-in handoff. Check the account carefully if you use more than one. Connecting the wrong account may return no saved context.

Read the category choices shown during connection. The categories you select can receive continuing recall access for that particular assistant. Choose the access you want to keep, rather than selecting everything to finish the screen.

If you use an account managed by your employer, follow its connector approval process.

3. Ask the assistant to save your preference

Name Passport explicitly so the assistant knows which memory system you mean.

Save this to AI Passport as a preference. Use British spelling when drafting my work emails. Keep routine requests concise.

In the normal review-first flow, the assistant creates a proposal in your private Passport Inbox.

Open the proposal and read it. “Keep routine requests concise” should not become “Always give short answers.” Correct an overstatement before approving it.

Approving the statement makes it an approved memory. An assistant also needs permission to read the relevant category. Those are separate decisions, although connection consent may already have established the access you selected.

4. Test it in a fresh conversation

Start a new chat and ask the assistant to retrieve your writing preferences from Passport.

Use AI Passport to retrieve my writing preferences. Then draft a short email asking a colleague to confirm tomorrow’s meeting time.

Supply any facts the email needs. Your writing preference cannot establish tomorrow’s meeting time by itself.

Review an access request if one appears. A suitable pass may already exist, so a new approval screen is not required every time.

Check the returned preference and the draft. If the assistant says it remembered something but you cannot find the proposal or approved statement, investigate that stage before saving it repeatedly.

5. Add another assistant when you want shared memory

Connect the second assistant to the same Passport account. Ask it to retrieve the writing preference and grant any relevant access it still needs.

You can use the same reviewed preference in another tool without recreating it in that assistant’s native memory.

This does not merge your full ChatGPT and Claude histories. Passport carries the approved context each connected app is allowed to read.

Check what you have allowed

Open Passes in Passport and review the access created during setup. Revoke a test pass you no longer need. Keep the preference if it is useful, or remove it if it was only an experiment.

A revoked pass stops future reads governed by it. Information already delivered into an assistant conversation needs to be managed in that service separately.

You have finished the first setup when you can find the saved statement and retrieve it through a permitted assistant. Connect an external app later when you have a task that needs its live information.
