How to use AI Passport for studying

Use AI Passport to carry study preferences between AI tools. Build a useful study brief, practise with feedback and update the context as your learning changes.

AI Passport can keep a short study brief available to the AI assistants you permit. You can carry useful preferences between tools without explaining the same course and revision approach at the start of every session.

Begin with what you are studying now. A useful study brief helps the assistant choose the right work and leaves you room to make progress.

1. Give the assistant a course to work from

Use your actual syllabus or teacher’s instructions to set the subject. “Help me revise economics” is a broad request. “Help me practise interpreting demand diagrams from this unit” gives the session a clear purpose.

Decide what you want to be able to do afterwards. You might want to explain a concept without notes or solve a new kind of problem.

Use material you are allowed to share in that service. Check your institution’s rules separately when work will be submitted for assessment.

2. Save a study preference in Passport

Choose a teaching approach you want to repeat. For example, you may want a worked example followed by an unfamiliar question you attempt yourself.

Ask your connected assistant to propose that preference.

Save this to AI Passport as a study preference. When introducing a concept, explain one worked example. Then give me a new question and wait for my attempt before showing the answer.

Review the proposal in your Passport Inbox. It should describe the teaching you want, without turning it into a claim about your ability.

“Give me practice with interpreting graphs” is more useful than “I am bad at graphs.” One mistake does not need a permanent place in your biography.

3. Make the next conversation use it

Start a fresh chat with a permitted assistant and ask it to retrieve your study preferences from Passport.

Use my study preferences from AI Passport. Work from the syllabus extract below. Explain this topic, then ask me a question before giving the solution.

Supply the topic and source material the session needs. A remembered preference cannot tell the assistant which textbook definition your course uses.

Attempt the question before reading the solution. An explanation can feel familiar while you are looking at it. Producing an answer yourself gives you something more useful to check.

The EEF’s metacognition guidance supports planning and evaluating learning within a subject. That is a reason to structure practice carefully, not a claim that a particular AI product improves exam results.

4. Keep feedback specific

If the assistant identifies a mistake, compare the correction with your course material or official solution.

Suppose you confuse a movement along a demand curve with a shift in the curve. A useful follow-up is another question testing that distinction. There is no need to save a general judgment that you cannot understand economics.

If you want continuity, propose a dated practice note in Passport explaining the distinction you are still working on. Check it before approval.

When later work shows that you understand it, update or remove the note. A study assistant should not keep treating last month’s difficulty as your current level.

5. Use another assistant without restarting the explanation

Connect a second supported assistant to the same Passport account. Review the category access you want it to have, then ask it to retrieve the current study context.

It can use that context to prepare a different question. You do not need to paste the complete earlier lesson into the new conversation.

If it needs an original rubric or a page from your notes, provide that through an appropriate route. Passport’s original-source access, where used, has a separate permission from recalling a saved preference.

Review the brief when the topic changes

Keep the teaching preferences that remain useful. Remove temporary exam plans when they no longer apply.

Your official marks and teacher’s feedback belong in their authoritative records. Treat an assistant’s estimate of your level as a suggestion to examine, rather than a result it has established.

Passport’s value here is continuity you can review. The same selected context can help more than one permitted assistant, while you decide which details remain accurate enough to reuse.
