What is Instinct AI

Learn what Instinct AI can do, how to give it a useful first task and what to check before connecting accounts or authorising a purchase.

Instinct is a personal AI assistant you can text or call. Its official website describes tasks such as ordering groceries and booking a train, with the assistant using a phone or computer to carry out the work.

That makes it different from using AI only to suggest what you might do. An assistant that can book something also needs clear instructions about when it is allowed to book it.

What can you ask it to do?

Instinct’s website gives examples of everyday errands. Treat those as the product’s advertised uses, then check what your account actually supports.

For a first task, ask it to find options rather than complete a purchase. You could request train journeys arriving before noon, with no more than one change, on a specified date.

Give it the departure station and your budget. Ask it to show ticket restrictions as well as the fare. A cheap ticket that cannot be used when you need it is not much of a bargain.

How do you get started?

Open the official website and follow its linked application entry point. Complete the access steps presented there. The public landing page does not establish a universal price or guarantee that every location is supported, so check the offer shown before paying.

If it asks to connect an account, read what it wants access to. Compare that with your task. Finding public train options should not automatically require access to unrelated files.

Use your own account or an authorised work account. Being able to sign in does not establish permission to give the service confidential information belonging to an employer or client.

Turn a request into a useful task

Here is a first request you can adapt.

Find train options from Leeds to London on 21 November, arriving before noon. Keep the fare under £80 and show the ticket conditions. Do not buy a ticket. Ask me if the requirements cannot be met.

Check the date and stations before sending. Afterwards, compare the suggested journey with the operator’s current offer. Look at whether the fare applies to the actual train and whether changes are permitted.

If no option fits, the assistant should explain the constraint rather than quietly change your budget or arrival time. You can then decide which requirement to relax.

What changes when you ask it to buy?

Research and execution are separate decisions. Before a purchase, confirm the exact journey and the total you accept. Read the conditions that would matter if your plans changed.

Instinct’s terms describe taking actions and entering commitments on a user’s behalf. They also warn that actions can be wrong and may not be reversible. A friendly conversation can still result in a real transaction.

If an attempted booking produces an unclear result, check the provider confirmation before trying again. Otherwise, a second attempt could create a second booking.

What happens to connected information?

Instinct’s privacy policy distinguishes information categories, including specific protections for Google Workspace data. Do not read a protection for that category as a promise about every piece of information the service handles.

The policy also distinguishes disconnecting an integration from deleting information already collected. If you finish a trial, review both ongoing access and retained material. Closing the chat does not establish either has been removed.

Keep reusable context in AI Passport

AI Passport holds selected personal context that connected assistants can use with your permission. For travel, that might be a preference for fewer changes or arriving with time to spare.

Ask a supported connected assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, to propose the preference in Passport. Read it before approval. “Prefer fewer changes” should not become “cannot change trains”. The assistant needs the appropriate read permission as well.

Retrieve your approved travel brief through a supported Passport assistant, then copy the relevant part into your Instinct request. If Instinct offers a documented Passport connection in your account, follow that setup instead. Either way, start from the preference you have checked rather than reconstructing it from old conversations.

Keep this journey’s budget in the current request if it is temporary. Anything you copy to Instinct is then subject to that service’s handling; revoking a Passport pass cannot erase the copy.
